At Best Fed Breastfeeding Center, we offer prenatal consults to help you prepare for your baby and the breastfeeding experience. We also offer consults after your baby is born to help with proper latch on and to prevent sore nipples. Pregnancy Massage

This is a gentle form of massage specially attuned to the needs of a pregnant woman. Offered to expectant mothers that are in their second trimester, Pregnancy massage is both effective and safe. Specific techniques can reduce discomforts related to a pregnancy and contribute to the physiological and emotional well being of both mother and baby. As your due date approaches acupressure points may be activated which in some women have helped to bring on labor.

many years ago. Reiki is a relaxing way for mommy to reduce stress and anxiety brought on during pregnancy and can be preformed at anytime during pregnancy. It is also a great way to get in tune with your baby and a perfect time for you to talk to your little one.

Postpartum support group

This group is for women experiencing adjustment difficulty during the   postpartum period. Talking with other women who have similar feelings of   anxiety or depressed mood can provide validation and encouragement. Facilitated by Andrea Schneider, LCSW Reservations NEEDED to attend. Belly Cast                       $85.00 & up

A belly cast is the perfect way to preserve the wonderful memories if the nine   months your baby grew inside your belly. You’ll love showing baby his or her “home” when he or she gets older. A belly cast is a realistic representation of the mom’s belly because it’s 3-dimentional. You just can’t get that with a video of photograph. Belly casts are a fun way to get dad and siblings involved and excited about baby’s arrival. Casts can be left white or painted.

Doula Services 

A doula is an experienced, non-medical assistant who provides physical, emotional and informed choice support in prenatal care, during childbirth and during the postpartum period. Your Doula absolutely doesn't replace medical caregivers or your birth partner, but rather complements them. There are many ways a doula can assist you, such as:

• Helping you prepare your birth plan
• Providing suggestions and exercises to help you have a more comfortable pregnancy
• Explaining medical procedures
• Providing emotional support
• Suggesting and providing non-pharmacological pain relief techniques (massage, heat therapy, positioning)
• assisting with breastfeeding
• Providing partner support
• Working as an advocate so your birth plan is carried out

Women supported by a doula during labor have been shown to have*:

• 50% reduction in Cesarean rate
• 25% shorter labor
• 60% reduction in epidural requests
• 40% reduction in Pitocin use
• 30% reduction in analgesic use
• 30% reduction in forceps delivery
